God's Work Our Hands

We've used it many times this past year, "God's work our hands," and yet the more I hear it the more it resonates with what it is that we do when we are called to walk in the waters of our Baptisms. God has the work layed out and we are his hands to bring the work into fruition.

And it is fitting that we reflect on this catchy little phrase as we set to begin our journey to Boston, MA. Thirty of us, representing Hope Lutheran Church, are heading out to Boston to be God's hands and to serve in a variety of ways. We will be working at Inn Between, getting our hands dirty with work projects. Abbot House is where we will visit with the elderly. Some of us will volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club while others will work with children and adults in a program called ARC. It will be a trip filled with fun, activities, and friendship. But most importantly our youth will be challenged in their faith. And this challenge will only help them to grow as a young adult as they grow in their own personal relationships with friends, adults, and God himself.

So pray for us. Think of us. And get ready to receive us when we return. We will want to share our stories with you at how our hands helped to carry God's work into this world.

A flock of flamingoes has been spotted near Eau Claire ....and to ensure that your house does not become victim to being "flamingoed" you should seriously look into buying insurance from the Sr. High youth. Throughout the span of three weeks (unannounced) the Sr. High Youth will be visiting people's yards at night. You could wake up in the morning and find a flock of flamingoes hanging out in your yard. To have them removed you will have to contact the Sr. High Youth and at a certain fee we will gladly herd them up and remove them from your yard. And for another fee you can pick the next victim to have their yard "flamingoed". Or to protect your yard you can by flamingo insurance. This won't guarantee that flamingoes won't land in your yard, this is money that protects you from paying for the removal. If you need anymore information feel free to contact STURGIE or any of the Sr. High Youth. Proceeds will go towards the Sr. High Mission Trip to Boston, MA. $15 will send the flock to your friend's, neighbor's, relative's, or co-worker's yard. $20 will get the flock removed from your yard. $10 will buy you an insurance policy that will protect you from having to pay the $20 removal! Flamingo on!
