From Pastor's Study
I hope that you make every effort to be present for our 65th Anniversary Celebration on September 12th. Here are at least three good reasons we are marking this milestone in our ministry Considering our past creates gratitude. Looking back, no matter how long we have been a part of the congregation, allows us to see, name and celebrate the many blessings of belonging and participating in the mission of the church. With memory we can see the faithfulness of God that sustains the church throughout time. Gratitude is a mark of faith that allows us to more fully live in the gospel today. We at Hope in this time of our history and given the challenges we are facing need a good reason to celebrate and to be renewed in our identity and purpose found in God's grace. Marking a day to celebrate invites each household an opportunity to respond. It allows all of us to pause and consider the gift of congregational life. With a special offering comes the feeling that we can all make a difference in giving toward the future well-being of our ministry. In responding together we become mindful again that our ministry is shared. Throughout our story's pages are endless examples of folks being generous for the sake of others and the world. The Anniversary of our congregation is an occasion to embrace the future with hope, and new found energy. While we are thankful for yesterday we know that today we have work to do, giving shape to the new thing God is doing for the sake of tomorrow. This is the harder part. While memories can bring comfort, we still feel the nudge toward bold and faithful service for the future. In our celebration the Spirit stirs up in our midst creativity, hospitality and imagination.
